Whiplash injuries
Whiplash injuries vary in severity and it can sometimes be 48 hours after the accident before any symptoms appear. If you are suffering from a whiplash injury you are likely to have some, or all of the following symptoms:

- Restricted movement in your neck and/or back;
- Stiffness in your neck and/or back;
- Dizziness
- Lower back pain;
- Pins and needles in your hands and arms.
How much compensation will you receive?
The amount of compensation you may be entitled to depends on a number of factors including how severely you have been injured and how long it takes you to recover from your injuries. The amount of compensation you receive is usually agreed between your solicitor and the other party’s solicitor (or insurer), however, if agreement cannot be reached between the parties then the amount of compensation you receive will be decided by the court.
As a guide, you may be entitled to receive the following amount of compensation for your whiplash injury :

| Minor whiplash injury where recovery takes place within 2 years | £2500 - £4250 |
| Moderate whiplash injuries (where symptoms persist for more than two years and the future prognosis is uncertain) | £4250 - £7750 |
| Severe whiplash injury where pain and suffering will continue indefinitely | £7750 - £13,750 |
