A new survey has revealed that 81 per cent of Brits don't know how to wear their seatbelt properly and a staggering 57 per cent of us don't know how to align our headrests to protect against whiplash.
The survey, which was commissioned by accident claims specialists LoyaltyLaw.com, tested over 2000 participants across Great Britain on their knowledge of seatbelt safety. In total the survey found that out of a possible 100 per cent only 19 per cent of people recognised that 'having your seat too far forward' limits the effectiveness of seatbelts.
The survey also asked participants 'Do you know how to correctly align your car headrest for it to provide maximum protection from a whiplash injury?' In total 57 per cent either did not or weren't sure.
According to Nicholas Jervis, the MD of Loyalty Law "What these results show is that there is a significant gap in people's awareness and every year we see thousands of people coming through our doors because of poorly positioned seatbelts or headrests. The key here is prevention and there are lots of things people could do to dramatically reduce injuries."
