Industrial injuries claims are being pursued against a Cumbrian chemical plant, after a man left with severe burns was told he’ll be scarred for life.
Indorama Polymers Ltd of Workington has admitted blame for allowing 58-year-old welder David Lightfoot to become engulfed by a fireball.
The work accident compensation claim being taken on by Mr Lightfoot, is based upon the fact that his head was set alight within moments of him starting work on a silo – because proper safety measures had not been taken.
Local newspaper, The News and Star, reports that 380 tonnes of acidic raw material and flammable liquids were contained in the silo.
The injury claims solicitor dealing with Mr Lightfoot’s case says the accident at work compensation, will relieve some of the mental and physical damages suffered by his client.
