An injury claim solicitor has helped the victim of a nightclub assault win the injury compensation he deserves, after having his jaw broken in an alcohol-fuelled fight, in 2009.
The Boxing Day incident saw rugby league player Andrew Ballard punch victim Liam Grundy three times with such force, the impact saw Mr Grundy need three days treatment in hospital.
During this time, doctors fitted two titanium plates to the face of Mr Grundy, who is also a Championship level rugby league player.
Liverpool Crown Court heard Mr Ballard, who plays for Barrow Raiders, get ordered to pay £1,200 pounds in damages to Mr Grundy, of Yorkshire team, The Rochdale Hornets.
Judge Bryn Holloway said, in sentencing, the CCTV footage provided by the nightclub owners was helpful in showing the tone of the situation.
He said it looked obvious that both parties had left the nightclub with the intention of having a fight.
