Deaths at work have dropped by a third (31 per cent) in the last year, suggesting that employers are being more safety-conscious in order to bring down accident at work compensation claims.
New figures from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) show that 151 workers lost their lives in 2009/2010, much lower than the five-year-average figure of 220.
People working in the construction sector have traditionally incurred more injuries and deaths, according to the report, but the numbers needing a personal injury claim company seem to be coming down rapidly.
Last year saw construction deaths go down by a quarter and a further fifth this year. Whilst this is partially thanks to better health and safety legislation, there has also been a rise in the proportion of workers sticking to the guidelines.
